Trail Beautification Sensation
Our Trail Beautification Days are opportunities to help beautify the Elizabeth River Trail and learn more about the native plant species found along the Trail with the delightful & resourceful Norfolk Master Gardeners. So far this year: we have taken care of the ERT Trailside Headquarters, refreshed the Eagle Scout project product Monarch Butterfly Waystation garden, and heavily beautified the ERT Managed Meadow in Chelsea.
On our last Trail Beautification Day held recently in July, we refreshed the ERT Pocket Park’s newest installation: the Peace Park! With help from Norfolk Master Gardeners, Rotary Club of Hampton Roads members, and enthusiastic ERT users and fans, we were able to keep this slice of urban sanctuary peaceful, accessible, and beneficial to all trail users & Norfolk residents. The Peace Park contains all native plant species, consisting of muscadine grapevine, Virginia sweetspire shrubs, Pawpaw trees, red chokecherry shrubs, pink muhly grasses, and more.
Join us every fourth Friday in the months of March to November! Locations and work details for the program will be announced during the week before the event on our public website event calendar AND in the Trail Beautification Day Facebook event page discussion. Locations we rotate between include:
- Plum Point Park (ERT- Fort Norfolk section)
- ERT Fitness Course (ERT – Fort Norfolk section)
- ERT Managed Meadow (ERT – Chelsea section)
- ERT Donor Sculpture by the Pagoda (ERT – Freemason section)
