Building Beds, But Not for Sleeping
Club Cultivate is ready to activate! The end of May brought 3 special work days at the Lamberts Point Micro Farm. The mission? Complete the building of 8 Vego self watering garden beds in order to grow vegetables and herbs for those in need. Like all of the beautiful work that is done along the ERT, Club Cultivate is powered by volunteers. A special thanks goes out to team Flowserve from Chesapeake and to the members of the Lamberts Point Civic League for jumping right into action when I mentioned Club Cultivate volunteer needs.
I also had the opportunity to meet and brainstorm with several Norfolk city, non-profit, and ministry leaders during a workshop hosted by Urban Institute: a non-profit research organization created to improve lives and strengthen communities. We sat in a room for hours and discussed advocacy, collaboration, self care, education, incentive, and engagement practices. All focused on growing and distributing fresh foods to those in need in our fair city. The future will flourish and you can help! Reminding you to stay grounded.
