Norfolk Academy Hits the ERT
This is our kind of field trip! We were delighted to host 26 Norfolk Academy 7th graders at the HQ as part of their Living Waters minimester program. As the academic year was winding down, we made sure they knew there were plenty of opportunities to spend their summer active and engaged on the ERT. For many of the NA students it was their first visit to the trail. Starting with our outdoor classroom at the HQ front yard we shared our urban agriculture vision, shared our experiment on a yard without grass for flooding mitigation, and then hit the trail for some history and lessons on resilience at our Managed Meadow.
The students used their new skills on native and invasive plants to play Plant Detective at or Fitness Course pollinator habitat, and of course, challenged each other to a fitness circuit. They rounded out their walk with a tour of Plum Point Park, a lesson on Marsh Toe Revetment, some otter spotting, a meditative walk through the labyrinth, some exercise on the play structure and a visit to the Monarch Waystation. We hope our Bulldogs will be back on the ERT this summer!
