Fairwinds Landing, previously known as Lambert’s Point Docks, is a Marine Logistics Center located in Norfolk, Virginia. What is your personal connection to the Elizabeth River Trail?
Our personal connection to the Elizabeth River Trail is truly right outside our door. We are neighbors in Norfolk’s Chelsea District, where the trail spans the perimeter of our property and continues beyond our neighborhood. Because of its close proximity to our homes and community, the trail is a meaningful part of the area we live, work, and enjoy.
Why did you/your organization decide to provide support to the trail?
We believe that being part of a community means being a good steward of the places and resources that make it special. The Elizabeth River Trail is an important part of the Chelsea community, providing a space for people to connect with nature, stay active, and enjoy the area. Supporting the trail is one way we can contribute to its continued care and help ensure it remains a valuable resource for our neighbors and the Norfolk community for years to come.
Given your business expertise and the nature of what you do, what benefits do you feel the trail has for the business community?
The Elizabeth River Trail creates a stronger connection between local businesses and the surrounding community. It brings people into the area, encourages them to explore local businesses, and helps create a sense of place that makes Norfolk an attractive area to live, work, and visit. From a business perspective, we believe a well-maintained and accessible trail contributes to a thriving community, which ultimately benefits the local business community as a whole.
What’s your favorite trail moment?
One of our favorite trail moments was a recent volunteer opportunity where the Fairwinds Landing team worked with others in the community to plant native trees and plants along the trail. It was rewarding to work alongside others in the community to help beautify the trail and leave a lasting, positive impact on a space that so many people enjoy.
Favorite Trailgrazing spot? (i.e. best local food spot steps from the trail)
Benchtop Brewing Company is our favorite local stop just steps from the Elizabeth River Trail.
Best view of the Elizabeth River from the trail?
The best view of the Elizabeth River is Plum Point Park located along the trail and right in the heart of Norfolk.
